Handling the OnlineMonitor should be rather intuitive. Touching the base station will bring up a menu (only to the owner) from where you can select options to manage the device. The menu explains what the buttons do briefly.
After rezzing the base station or wearing the HUD you are ready to add the names of the resident you want to monitor. To add a resident, touch the base station and click the "Add" button, or, on the HUD, click the (+) button. Some instructions how to add a resident will be chatted in local chat. In general, you can type
/84 add <full resident name>
in local chat any time to add a new resident. <full resident name> is the full name of the resident you want to add. Enter it without the <, >. For instance, if you want to add Carlyle Theas, type
/84 add Carlyle Theas
in local chat.
If you are not near the base station, but if you are wearing the HUD, you can add a new resident in the same way. It will be added to the HUD, which communicates with the base station and adds it to the base station as well.
Alternatively, you can also add residents on the Web interface. You can obviously even do so if you're not online inworld. To open the Web interface, touch the base station and click the "Webpage" button. Or, on the HUD, click the pink (Web) button. You will be asked whether the viewer should open the webpage. Click "Go to page". You might want to bookmark this page in your browser. Whenever you get an IM or an E-mail notifying you of an online status change and you aren't online, this web address will be included in the message for your convenience.
If you add a resident using the Web interface, it will automatically be added to the base station. However, it will not be added to the HUD. In order to have the current resident list in the HUD, open the HUD menu and click the "Synchronize" button.
Touch the base station and click the "Remove" button, or, on the HUD, click the (-) button. You will see a menu in which you can choose the resident you want to remove from your OnlineMonitor list.
On the webpage, simply click the "bin" icon.
Sometimes you might want to quickly check the online status of someone who isn't in your OnlineMonitor list. The OnlineMonitor provides a way to do this. Touch the base station and click the "Check" button. Alternatively, on the HUD click the (Menu) button and click "Check". You will see some instructions on how to perform a "quick check". In general, you can type
/84 check <full resident name>
in local chat any time to perform a quick check. You can also do quick checks from the website and from the desktop mini app.
You can list all the residents you added to the OnlineMonitor and display their current online status by clicking the "Statuses" menu button after touching the base station or clicking the (Menu) button on your HUD.
"Show Stats", or alternatively clicking the (i) button on the HUD will show a list of online times of the residents in your OnlineMonitor list since midnight SLT.
OnlineMonitor has a number of ways how it can be configured.
