I would like to change my user name but I want to be sure that the existing wardrobe content will still be linked with my avatar after the name change...

Yes, it will continue working normally.

Wardrobe accounts are tied to the UUID, and not to the user name. Even when you change your name, your UUID will still be the same.

After changing your name, the HUD will pick up the current name, and your name displayed on the web page will be updated accordingly.
