I've run into this same issue with Hairbases, Tattoos and makeup, always of the same types of things and I don't have the ability to identify them as separate things in the clothing matrix.

I've tested tried the following scenarios if this is any help.

I have tried putting the items, say the bangs and hair, or hairbase and hair, in the same folder with mixed success.  In certain very specific situations, it will place both but it is not repeatable. When it works, you need to have checked the "put on all the items contained in the subfolders of the selected folder" AND "ADD to Attachments" however you wind up with multiple Hair and Bangs, or "REPLACE" when you get just the hair but NO bangs.

Thank you!

Regarding the clothing type matrix: there are entries for "tattoo" and "makeup". Make sure you have tags associated with these types.

RLV works in a way that it will always put on everything from the folder you're adding. If you don't want everything put on, you can either use subfolders for the individual variants, or make individual Wardrobe items. If you choose to use subfolders, to put on you can either use the "Put on with options" function (the shirt icon with the cog on it) and then select the subfolder you want to put on, or use the subfolder line in your Wardrobe item.
Be aware, though, that if you add all subfolders on a single item, if you click the "Put on" icon, it will add all these subfolders. So either duplicate the item for each variant and specify one subfolder at a time, or you could also click the name of a subfolder on the item to put on that particular subfolder.

Since RLV always puts on everything from within a folder, if you use the "add to attachments" option, all the attachments contained in the folder will pile up, and you'll end up with multiple hairs if you have multiple hairs in the folder.
If, on the other hand, you use "replace", again, everything will be put on, but if two or more attachments go on the same attachment spot, one will be put on only to be replaced immediately by the other attachment, so you'll end up with one random attachment from the folder per attachment spot. So if your hair and the bangs both go on the same attachment spot, you'll be either wearing the hair or the bangs, but never both.

In general, for mesh items, it is advisable to always use the "add to attachments" option and one of the methods that will ensure that the previously worn piece will be removed before the new one is put on.
The easiest such method is to just manually remove something (e.g., from the "Worn Outfits" dialog) before or after you put something new on. Or you can use the "Clothing Type System", which is described in more detail in the manual in the "Automatically Removing the Previous Outfit" section.

I am ONLY using the Clothing Type System now. I will have other questions I think but I wondered if you could tell me if,  when using clothing Type dressing that I still have to think about Attachment Points.

I wanted to double-check because once I switched over, I haven't been thinking about Attachment Points at all.

Also, would your earlier answer be the same since I clarified my question that I'm using the Clothing Based dressing?
Thank you!
